Drama

The college is committed to the creative and expressive arts. They are viewed as being an integral part of all students experience.

At Key Stage 3, all Y7-9 students take Drama as part of the core curriculum {taught in mixed ability groups}.  In Key Stage 4 {Years 10 and 11} students may select a GCSE option in Drama or a BTEC in Performing Arts. At Advanced Level {AS / A2, Key Stage 5, Years 12 and 13} students can also choose to study Theatre Studies or Performing Arts {Production}, or can choose BTEC Performing Art at Level 2.

The department is keen to continue and develop the established patterns of extra curricular work both with small groups and large productions. Examination groups make regular presentations of both scripted and self devised work. We put on a large Drama Evening every year and a Christmas Event. In past years A-level Theatre Studies productions have included ‘Love & Money’, ‘The Love of the Nightingale’ and ‘Head Rot Hotel’. From September 2006 the department have set up Impact-TBCC who are an in house theatre company. Since 2009 the department have worked in collaboration with dance and music to stage a whole school musical and so far have produced productions of ‘Grease’ and ‘Fame’. It is hoped that this tradition will continue into the future.
