Students have kick started the new fundraising year at the college with all manner of charity events.
Our fundraising this year started on Friday 16th of September with the college holding a mega cake stall that could rival the cakes on the Great British Bake off! It was all in aid of the St Barnabas Hospice, Worthing, and the students and staff raised £200.
Blue, Black, White, Long, Short and Skinny….the range of Jeans that were worn today by the students at Thomas Bennett Community College in aid of the national Jeans for Genes Day appeal. Each student could be out of uniform and wear jeans for a £1 donation to the charity. We are still counting the monies raised but we hope to have raised a minimum of £400 pounds.
Students have also been keen to get behind the appeal set up to support Michael Howard-Bold a student at the college who is at the moment receiving treatment for a rare form of cancer. Today they took part in a cake sale at break time to raise money for the Michael’s appeal and raised over £65. Also students were going to support and donate to the charity football matches that were happening at the college at the end of school and also the match taking place at Three Bridges FC on Friday 23rd September 2016.
The funds raised so far this term for good causes stands at approximately £700 – not bad going for just 3 weeks! We are looking forward to another record breaking year of fundraising at the college!
