The Crawley Schools Athletics Area trials took place on Thursday at K2. This, the first athletics competition of the year is the qualification meeting to represent the District at the Sussex Schools County Championships in June. Dylan Hanslow ( Junior boys 1500m) and Thomas Thayre (Inter boys 1500m) both put in commanding performances to secure their qualification to the championships. Jack Lambert (Junior Boys 100m), David Court (Inter boys Javelin) and Jette Tabot (Junior Girls Shot Putt) all qualified in their events with solid determined performances of their own. Kieran Ashley (Inter boys long jump) leaped a huge personal best to win his competition and secure his place at Sussex Schools in June. Well done to all those who competed and good luck to those athletes through to the next stage!
The girls played really well and played some excellent Netball, they came second to last but some of the games they only lost by 1 or 2 goals which was a shame but they tried really hard.
At the end of the day the Surrey storm netballer chose just 2 girls out of the whole day who played really well and showed some excellent netball play.
Students from Year 7 and 8 took part in the Sussex Schools Cross Country Championships on Thursday 2nd March 2017 at Christ’s Hospital. Every student within the team ran exceptionally well considering this was their first competitive cross country race outside of the mob run!!! The students showed great determination and team spirit to perform individually on the day but also to help the rest of the team in their challenge. Performance of the day went to Dylan Hanslow (Year 8) who finished 2nd in the year 8 boys race. A great run from Dylan in race of more than 170 athletes!!!! He will now represent Sussex at the inter-counties match at the end of March. Congratulations Dylan and well done to the whole team!

U14 Football Tournament
On Thursday 9th Feburary we hosted the end of season Crawley area U14 girls football tournament. The schools that entered were; TBCC, ICC, Hazelwick and Oriel. Our girls played fantastically and won all of their games in the group stages beating Oriel 2-0, Hazelwick 3-0 and ICC 4-0. In the play off section of the tournament we were faced against Oriel who had won all of their games except against us. It was a hard fought battle and at full time the score was 0-0, this meant we had to go to penalties. Unfortunately our winning streak had run out and we lost to Oriel 5-1 on penalties. The girls played fantastically and we came 2nd overall in the tournament. The players involved were:
Chanelle Gainsford, Jette Tabot, Ella McLaughlin, Sas Thompson, Mia McQueenie, Aaliyah Carey and Keira McQueenie
Year 10 Netball
On 10th November, our Year 10 Girls Netball team had their last two fixtures in their league. Their first game was against Hazelwick where the girls fought really hard and were winning 6-2 in the first half, in the second half they managed to score another 5 goals winning the game 11-2.
Their second game was against Holy Trinity where Jette Tabot and Maryann Rattigan scored a whopping 9 goals in the first half and their defense worked really hard stopping Holy Trinity scoring a goal against them. In the second half with Cassie Girling coming on to shoot alongside Jette Tabot the girls scored another 7 goals and only letting in 1 which led them to win the game 16-1. Well Done Girls.
