It combines well with most other subjects at A level.

10 KEY POINTS ABOUT THE COURSE

1   Over the two years there are two exams.   The Year 12 exam involves some pre-release material on marketing.   You will have to plan and carry out a marketing campaign.   The Yr 13 exam is tougher and involves some finance work

2. Two units are coursework, allowing students to show their ability and care in the other side of the work.   In Year 12 we do the ‘Introducing Business’ unit and will hope to start with this unit building up a basic knowledge of Business from the start.

3   There is also a coursework unit in Year 13 to chose.    We may well do unit 08 ‘Market Research’.   This will involve students in doing some real life research on how firms go about finding out what the market wants and then providing it.

4.  No previous knowledge of Business is needed

5   The course is practical and hands-on but will also require students to meet deadlines and produce reports in a fairly short space of time.

6. An interest in the world around is important, as is the ability to read/watch the media and what is going on.

7  A grade C in Maths is needed because of the finance unit.   This will require students to read balance sheets, profit and loss accounts and to calculate ratios and use them.

8. Students are also expected to do independent research and to think and debate for themselves.
